How to create an objective
Create an objective for the whole organization, for a selected segment, or for yourself as an individual to reach and track objectives on all levels within the organization. To reach and track goals, you should create an objective. Start by defining your objectives for the organization, segment or yourself. Objectives should be ambitious, qualitative, time-bound and actionable.
Driver connection
Is the goal to improve something connected to one of the drivers in Eletive? Then you can connect the objective to that specific driver and follow progress to see if it gave the results you aimed for. This parameter is optional to use.
Public or Private objective
You can choose to make your objective public or private. You cannot change from public to private when the objective has been created.
Organization
If you create an objective on the organizational level and you want that segments and employees should be able to align with the objective, make it public. If the objective should be private and only accessible to people with access to the organization level, make it private.
Segment
If you create an objective on the segment level and you want to have access to align with a parent and that sub-segments and employees should be able to align with the objective, make it public. If the objective is made public, the users within your segment will be able to see what the objective is and its description. If the objective should be private and only accessible to people with access to the segment, make it private.
Employee
If you create an objective on the employee level and you want to share the objective with your manager and you want to have access to align with other objectives, make it public. If the object should be private and only accessible by yourself, make it private.
Progress based on sub-objectives
Activate this parameter if the objective progress should automatically update based on the sub-objective progress. If this parameter is on, no key results are needed but they can be added to also contribute to the progress.
Parent to align with
When creating an objective for a segment or for yourself, you will get the option to align the objective to a parent. In this list, you will find the Organization and parent segments if your organization uses hierarchies. This parameter is optional to use.
Parent objective to align with
If you choose to align with a parent, you will need to choose a parent objective to align your objective with. This parameter is mandatory if you have aligned with a parent.
Key results
To reach your objective, you must set targets to manage along the way. With key results, you can track your process and see if you're on track, behind, or at risk. You can add 4 different types of key results, but as many as you want and need connecting to the objective. You can add more key results to objectives that have already been created. These are the following key results you can choose between depending on your goal: Percent, Currency, Number, and Completed/Not completed.
Responsible
If the objective should have a responsible user (apart from the entity it is in, i.e. apart from the user that creates it), then you can add one or multiple users as responsible. A common scenario is that a manager creates an objective and delegates the objective by assigning an employee(s) as responsible. That(s) user will be able to update the progress but not edit the objective itself.
