Two-factor authentication
Increase account security with two-factor authentication (2FA)
Target audience: All Eletive users
Enable two-factor authentication
- Navigate to your profile in the top right corner
- Click on the Security tab
- Download the Google Authenticator app to your device
- Click the Enable button and follow the instructions
Note: If enabling 2FA during an ongoing survey, the existing invite sent per email will expire. The in-app survey notification still works to access the survey.
Disable two-factor authentication
For yourself
Two-factor authentication is optional and it is up to you if you want to use it. When using this feature you will need to enter the code appearing in your phone app every time you log in.
To disable two-factor authentication for yourself:
- Click Security tab
- Click the Disable button
For someone else
Only Administrators and Superusers can disable two-factor authentication for other user profiles.
To disable two-factor authentication for a user profile:
- Navigate to Settings / Users in the left side menu
- Search on the user and click on their name
- Scroll to the bottom of the page, under Two-factor authentication section, press Disable
- Done. Two-factor authentication is now disabled for the user. Inform the user that can login without 2FA.

- I lost my device and cannot access my account. How do I reset two factor authentication?
If you lose your device and for that reason cannot access your account and disable two-factor authentication, reach out to your organization administrator and ask them to disable it for your user. - Is it possible to enforce all or some users to use 2FA?
No, it is NOT possible to enforce all or some users to use 2FA. It needs to be enabled individually by each user.
